A passion for serving the aging population

Growing up, my father served as a nursing home administrator for an impressive 35 years. Around our dinner table, I absorbed tales of his tireless efforts to retain skilled caregivers for the residents, despite the challenges posed by limited resources. His dedication was evident as he tirelessly moved from one facility to another, as a “fixer”, resolving issues and striving for excellence in each skilled nursing facility. These formative years instilled in me a deep understanding of the importance of compassion, patience, and care for our aging population, as I spent countless hours talking with residents during recreational activities and holiday celebrations. Sometimes, I would go to someone’s room and just listen to their stories.

Fast forward to my career in real estate, where I found a newfound passion in assisting aging clients. Some of them, having faced loss or health issues, sought smaller, more manageable living arrangements. Some of them were just ready for a new chapter. Each client’s story became a personal journey for me, as I endeavored to understand their unique needs and guide them through their transition.

For years, I aspired to become a certified Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) through a certification program with the National Association of REALTORS. Despite the logistical challenges of finding nearby classes, my determination led me to travel to North Wales, Pennsylvania last month, where I joined fellow realtors from across the country in a transformative learning experience. Together, we not only acquired valuable knowledge but also shared our collective passion for serving aging adults, exchanging stories of triumphs and tribulations.
